General Delivery Conditions
Transfer of material containing precious metals
Material for processing should be delivered to the GALMET administrative centre in Dolní Břežany or to the Chvaletice plant. Alternatively, the material can be handed over to an authorized GALMET representative on customer's premises. The acceptance procedure includes weighing of the material (if solid) or measuring its volume (if liquid).
The customer is required to provide GALMET with adequate information regarding chemical and physical properties of the material. Explosive, extremely flammable and radioactive materials will not be accepted for processing. Materials containing Ag, Au, Pd, Pt and/or Rh are routinely accepted for refining.
The net (if possible) or gross weight of the solid material / the volume of the liquid material is measured within the acceptance procedure. The data measured are entered in the customer's copy of the delivery note.
Title to the material
The customer is responsible for the material being the customer's property or the property of a third party that has authorized the customer to transfer the material to GALMET for reprocessing.
Sampling and homogenization
If the customer insists on sampling for the customer's own analysis, 3 representative samples will be taken: one for the customer, one for the processing entity of the material and one for storage for any repeated or arbitration analysis. Samples are not taken from inhomogeneous wastes where sampling is unfeasible. If the customer requires sample analysis, a sample can only be taken after homogenization, i.e. after sorting, incineration and milling. The customer has the right, on request to be present during the material homogenization procedure. The customer must understand that material homogenization may result in material weight and/or structure change (incinerable materials after mineralization by pyrolysis); or crushing and milling for pieces of materials.
Sample analysis
GALMET laboratory analyzes the samples for precious metals as specified by the customer when submitting the material. The time of analysis is a matter of individual agreement between GALMET and the customer. The results will be reported to the customer by a mutually agreed route. If the results of analysis obtained by the customer disagree with those obtained by GALMET and no settlement (averaging of the results, recognition of the other party's result) can be reached, the stored sample will be submitted to the Assay Office in Prague for arbitration analysis. The cost of this analysis will be borne by that party whose result deviates more from that of the arbitration analysis. Until then, either party has the right to cancel the processing agreement. The material processing party will be entitled to receive financial compensation for the material homogenization process and a handling fee.
Waste refining and return of the material
The summary times of the waste refining process are different, depending on the demands of the processing job, including the number of technological steps involved. The time for the precious metal recuperation job starts running the day the customer has accepted the analytical results or, where repeated processing of a known material with a constant precious metal content is involved, the day the material is accepted by GALMET.
The precious metal recovery job takes approximately:
20 workdays after the results of analysis have been accepted (homogeneous metallic wastes, i.e. cuttings, ingots and fragments)
25-30 workdays after the results of analysis have been accepted (non-homogeneous wastes, i.e. skimmings, sludges, ashes); individual times are agreed between the parties where special materials are subject to processing.
If the customer requires return of the material recovered (Au, Ag), it will be returned in the following form and within the following periods of time:
Ag … Granulated metal 999.8-999.9, within 2 weeks after crediting to the credit account
Au … Ingot 999.8, within 2 weeks after crediting to the credit account
Au … Granulated metal 999.9, within 3 weeks after crediting to the credit account
Pd … Sheet 999.5 (for amounts above 500 g only) subject to mutual agreement
Pt …...is not returned
Rh ….is not returned
Weight account
A precious metal can be deposited on a weight account, which means that it will be stored and protected by GALMET while the weight account is the customer's property. The weight account does not produce any interest. The customer has the right to issue instructions for handling the precious metal at any moment, i.e. to sell it or to withdraw it under the conditions specified in the price list, in the General Conditions. The precious metals can be sold from the credit account at published purchasing prices or at prices agreed in advance during the material takeover for processing.
7. Payment for refining and sale of a precious metal from the credit account
The details of payments for the refining as well as payment for the purchased materials or precious metals from the credit account will be agreed between the customer and GALMET.
Complaints
Any complaints regarding weight differences or results of analyses must be lodged immediately and without delay after receiving the result or identifying the difference.
9. Force majeure
In case of events that could not be foreseen or influenced by the parties, the obligations arising from the contractual relations shall be suspended. The mode of resolving the existing situation will be agreed between the parties after the force majeure is over. The affected party shall inform the other party of the event immediately.
